Truncated Cone HCPV lenses

The proprietary 'Truncated Cone' lens structure is an elegant design solution that delivers improved performance across a range of critical lens attributes for High Concentration Photovoltaic (HCPV) applications.

  • Reduces losses due to manufacturing imperfections in the lens structure
  • Reduced back face Fresnel losses
  • Reduces the effect of chromatic aberration allowing higher concentration ratios
  • Produces a lighter focal spot
  • Greater acceptance angle tolerance
  • Enables shorter focal length for any given system design

Manufacturing Process

1. Structure is replicated onto PMMA film.

2. Film is die cut and formed into truncated cone shape.

3. Film is bonded to a PMMA support structure (either individual or multiple lens 'parquet' support structures).

4. Lenses mounted into HCPV module.
